Welsh planning policy and practiceNew Secondary Legislation covering telecommunications development in Wales came into force on 1 August 2002. The three statutory instruments agreed by the National Assembly enacting the legislation are: a) the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications and Deemed
Applications) (Amendment) b) the Town and Country Planning (General Development Procedure) (Amendment) c) the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment) The revised version of Technical Advice Note "Telecommunications" (TAN 19) August 2002 takes account of the growth of the telecommunications industry, of the new social and economic demands for communications, and of the Welsh Assembly Government's environmental policies. and TAN 19 can be found via: Code of Best Practice on Mobile Phone Network Development The Code is based on, and follows very closely, the Code of Best Practice issued by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in November 2002.
