Telecommunications Code of Best Practice

The new Code of Best Practice was issued by Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in 2002 and replaces the earlier Code of Best Practice which was produced in 1996. It has been drawn up following extensive consultation and aims to facilitate improved consultation and communication between the operators, local authorities and local people. The Code builds on Government guidance (such as PPG8) and the operators 10 Commitments. It provides clear and practical advice to ensure the delivery of significantly better and more effective consultation and communication between operators, local authorities and local people. The Code also provides advice on good siting and design in order to minimise the environmental and visual impact.
